Yes Steve I agree with you this is going hurt the income of the bait harvester and dealers, seems the goverment concern of the working people is nil.

Hi Steve I support the position that bait should be allow to be harvest, sold and used within the same watershed and bodies of water from which they are netted -harvest. I believe there is a rule- regulation that bait cannot be transported over a 50 mile radius which should help the various local bait shops (USE TO BE?) IT IS THE REASON THAT I BUY MY BAIT FROM LOCAL SOUCES- where I am fishing. I could not find mention of this in 2006 regulations - which if the Ministry dropped then they are also partly at fault for the problems we have. Time to finally go ice fishing and post some good results(hopefully). Fish On Greenfisher

I'm not a big user of live bait (the occasional garden hackle, can't remember last time I bought a minnow), but the proposed COMMERCIAL[/I] bait ban belongs in the same steaming pile as helmets for kids tobogganing or Durham County banning Harry Potter books in schools for promoting witchcraft.

I don't do any ice fishing at all so i don't watch this site as close in the winter as I do in the summer, so thanks Steve for the email. IM sure the MNR means wll an are trying to do the right thing, but there needs to be more comunication.......or somthing like that.

If they ever ban Bait your Roe will also be Baned and 90% of the bait i supplie is in the Niagara Area ...
